Wigton shows solidarity with Ukraine

Over 80 people attended a candlelit vigil outside St Mary’s Church on Wednesday evening.

All ages were there, and the silence was only broken by the passing traffic – a reminder that for many people life goes on as normal. A Ukrainian flag flew outside the church as a symbol of us all united in one cause.  Before this about 30 people went to the Methodist Church for a session of prayer for the people of Ukraine and all those helping to alleviate suffering.

The session began with the playing of the Ukrainian national anthem.
